After being told about this little cutie a couple of days ago, I've been looking into UMPC's for studying/gaming on the go.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/11/kohjinsha-sa1f00a-ultra-portable-reviewed/

I've also been interested in the Raon Vega.

http://www.raondigital.com/english/product/product_s_1.asp

They're both bare bone with regards to power, but they're small enough to use on the subway with no worries. And they're a lot cheaper than a subnote: Under W700,000.

Anyone here used either machine?

Any idea where the market is going?

As ultra portables go, they look cool. There are better, but... so what, the price is nice. As gaming-on-the-go machines, they seems underpowered. You'd be better getting a PSP or something like that. But a PSP problably wouldn't be great at other things you want to do. If you want this to replace your current system or you think that you might be getting heavy use out of it, then I suggest making sure what ever you choose has USB host capabilites.

peace,

Yeah but by gaming on the go, I was thinking Baldur's gate and Starcraft. Neither of those support Direct 3D anyway. Maybe the next gen will have an old 3D chip integrated?

I have a DS for gaming, but I prefer PC software generally.
