| Would anyone know where one could get discounted rates Pusan-Fukuoaka hydrofoil. Some travel agents have a 'visa package' with discounted hyrdrofoil rates and accomodation one night Fukuoka. Or just a contact re; cut down hydrofoil fares. Thanks. |

| The only way I even know to book them is with Kangsan Travel. kangsantravel.com 190,000 round trip. With hotel 210,000 round trip I think. |

Ha! My Visa run allotment provided by the future employer is 300 thousand. The recruiter said he'd pay the ferry and hotel for that, entrepreneurial, chiseling, scumbag, ha! Not this time, buddy.
Thanks. |

I could have told you that.
300,000 won cash in one's hand is preferable. Offer to make arrangements oneself. It does cost 300,000 won once you add in additional travel costs (taxis, buses, munchies).
Hotel Fukuoka through Gangsan Travel is great, includes free buffet breakfast with western, japanese and korean fare. Plus it's easy to get to the embassy with several other teachers there at the same place for the same reason!
I did two visa runs there that way. There were over a dozen teachers at the hotel to do the same thing with, was fun. |

I don't think there are any discount rates. You can buy a package through Kangsan and they will do the legwork for you and book a hotel for you. But if you're trying to go before March 1st, forget about it. The hydrofoils are pretty much booked. I tried. |

For anyone's who's interested, I did a long blog entry on how to do a visa run to Fukuoka (by ferry). You can read it
HERE.
For a cheap place to stay in Fukuoka, check out Khaosan Fukuoka Hostel. A dorm bed is 2000 yen. |

Besides booking through kangsan, you can go directly to the ferry terminal. it MIGHT be a bit cheaper, but I'm not sure. I expect Kangsan gets a little something for booking.
Good if you live in Busan, not so much if you don't. |

Wah, hydrofoils booked/full before March 1st! Better get crackin'! I know they had two lines running and axed one, leaving the more expensive Beetle (they axed the Mirajet, or something). Maybe that leaves fewer seats? Yes, to have the cash and do it yourself is the way to go, the recruiter wants to chisel out a cut for himself. That 2,000 yen hostel bunk situation looks good.
I enjoyed the capsule motel for 3,900 near Canal City Mall (between it and the nightclub region across the canal. The capsule motel is on the canal, big sign '3,990'). Because it had free access to a mogyauk. Hot tub sit before insertion into capusle bed. And again upon being squeezed out in the morning. Heats out the kinks.
Thanks, everyone.

Not true.
I use Kangsan travel all the time and I never have lived in Busan nor ever visited their offices. Contact them by phone and email. Pick up tickets and hotel voucher at the ferry terminal. |

The only option is to fly, then? |

The ferry discount through either carrier - yes, there are two different carriers - is dependent upon booking three days in advance.
Cheers. |

No, the capsule hotel was just under 4000 yen, and at today's exchange rate it's about 30 000won.
Sure it seems expensive for a small space to sleep in, but a cheap business hotel costs around 5000yen a night. Rates are cheaper if you are only there for 5 hours or something. If you just want to sleep, it is/was a good choice, and it is also clean and not dodgy.
However, recently there are more "media cafe"-type places popping up, which is like a manga cafe, internet cafe, DVD bang, pool hall.. all-in-one place where you pay by the hour, and for a few hours sleep, you can just go there and hang out if you don't want to shell out the money for a hotel room. Apparently there are free showers as well |
