Hello everyone, finally got an offer I decided to accept. It was orignally for Dongrae in Busan, but they just changed it to Namchun. They said that Namchun was the preferred location, because it was more central. But I can't seem to find where either location is. So of anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. I will be leaving for Korea in the begining of February. |

I've been searching the internet and all i can find is Namcheon in Suyeong-gu in Busan. Is this the same as Namchun? I know its probabaly a dumb question, but is it just a variation of the spelling? |

hi
I used to live near namcheon dong in busan, a couple of subway stops away is vinyl underground and other foreigner bars. lots of universities around that area, so lots to do. namcheon dong is pretty good, you'll like it. TGIF, Outback is a 10-15 minute walk, if you prefer western food. i think they have built a movie theater recently too, but haven't been back there recently. the subway stop is kyungsung dae that has all the foreign bars. good luck..

I live in Namcheon, and work in Dongnae, so I consider myself an expert! What everyone has said so far about Namcheon is true, except for the movie theatre which is still being built and I'd say is about a year away from completion.
If you're not familiar with Busan and just want a location on a map, find Gwanganli Bridge, which juts out into the sea and then curves back in a big crescent shape. The North end of the bridge is close to Haeundae, the South end is Namcheon. I live just next to the bridge, and the University district (the Kyeongseong Dae stop) with the Starbucks and all the clubs etc. is about 10-15 mins walk away.
I wouldn't say Namcheon is more central than Dongnae, they're about the same distance from Seomyeon via subway, but on different lines. But Namcheon is much better because it has everything Dongnae has but is right next to the sea.
Namcheon is about 30 mins away by subway from either Seomyeon or Haeundae, or even Dongnae (maybe 35) and Pusan National University (40), so its a great location to live for socialising, because you can so easily get anywhere you want...on a Saturday night, probably 90% of Busan foreigners not at home would be in one of those places or Namcheon itself. So I guess it is more central after all. |

Namcheon is much better than Dongnae. You lucked out! You will be quite close to the ocean (gwangalli Beach), close to Kyungsung Uni area (lots of bars and food) and not far from Seomyeon (shopping!) or Haeundae (beach, restaurants, bars). Dongane isn't that close to anytyhing except Pusan National Uni area (bars and restauratns). |

You are right at Kyungsung Uniersity. There are a couple of bars there- Ol'55 and Vinyl mainly. I'm usually drunk when I go there, so I can't give you directions, but perhaps someone else???
The easiest westerner bar to find is U2. Its in Haeundae, right across from the Novotel Hotel. If you get off at Haeundae station, walk towards the beach. At the beach, look fro hte hotel. |

Pretty soon, the contract's gonna say "China". Dude, are you sure it's Gwangali this time?
It's like ball-busting the Sony representative before you go across the way and buying your TV at the Panasonic store. |

Yeah, get in a taxi, say "Hae-yoon-dae No-bo-tel"
The U2 bar is across the street in the basement. |
