Seems like this guy has been a little above average his whole career. Good, but never really that great. I am sure the Suwon games will sell out with ajuma's trying to get a look at this guy : )

The Korean media has been trying ever since 2002 to claim that Ahn left Italy because of the Italy-Korea result. He was NOT fired by Perugia - his contract was ending and they chose not to extend it. There's a big difference.

And they chose not to extend it because he flat out sucked in the Serie A.

Ahn is above average for the K-league but he really isn't all that...

He just picked his times well....in 2002 and 2006 he got goals when they counted and became the publics hero....

In between he honestly did crap all and struggled from club to club always trying to get his big break in Europe that never came..

Good luck to him...he should get about 10 goals in 36 games this season.

Ahn's nickname is Lord of the Ring, but I think he's more a dingaling if anything.

He's definitely one of the more overrated players in Korea despite getting lucky a few times in the World Cup. I heard Hiddink didn't want Ahn on the 2002 Korean team because he was lazy on defense and didn't pass when he should have.

Well, I shouldn't be so hard on him - his stint in Italy was at least better than Lee Chun-Soo's disastrous career in Spain. Going to one of the oldest and most storied clubs in the country and claiming right away he was going to be one of the best players they ever had was not a wise move, especially considering how rabid Real Sociedad's fanbase are. If he was anything less than the second coming of Txiki Beguiristain, he was toast. Naturally, he stunk it up.
