Is it still possible to obtain a public school position in Seoul?

Thanks!

You just missed the main hiring period, but as Homer said, you can always try.

I think it's harder to find them in Seoul. If you don't mind being in a smaller city then it should be easier.

My husband and I wanted a public school position also but all the recruiters we talked to said it'd be really hard to find one now and pretty much impossible to find one in August (which is when we want to leave for Korea) so it looks like we're going to have to settle for a hagwon Sad hopefully we can get a good one though...

The 3 major government programs (EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE/ETIS ) do the bulk of their annual hiring between June and July for August starts. The fall school term will start on August 24.

They anticipate a combined requirement/quota of some 500 new teachers between the 3 of them.

There are still a large number of openings for ASAP hires in the public school system for the spring term too. Our district is still looking for 4 or 5 more teachers and it is my feeling that this number is pretty much the average among most of the school districts that employ foreign staff.

If you don't mind a smaller town or city in Gangwon-do. The town that I live in is short one teacher. A town about 38km north of where I live is short two or three teachers at the public schools.

Well, the thing is my husband and I don't want to leave the states until August. I looked at EPIK online though and it seems that they hire for public school in Aug./Sept. so things may be looking up!

Oh and we actually would prefer a smaller town.
