Hi There,

Im coming over to Jeonju from the UK at the end of the month and have had jabs for :

Having the most useless doctor ever i am unsure if i need to get the Japanese encephalitis jab!

And should i bring over any malaria tablets?

I was advised to have the Jap Encephalitus and did.

There is no risk of Malaria in Korea, so no to that question. I suppose you could bring them if you planned to travel to a high risk area from Korea, such as Thailand or Vietnam.

If you are really paranoid you could also have Rabies jab, I opted out of that for financial reasons.

No . JAP EN is a waste of pain, time, and money. Unless you are going to the wops, forget about it.

It is a very dangerous disease with a high fatality rate as well as causing brain damage. All it takes to get it is an infected mosquito. The disease is preventable with a one time shot. Well worth the time and effort.

That's true, but one of the possible side-effects (albeit, very unlikely) is brain swelling that can cause death, and so my guess is that there's no point getting it unless you're in a high-risk area.

The countryside and, specifically, from what I can remember, the south-west area. Better checking with a nurse/doctor to be sure of the details, or using the internet.

Yeah.. 3 shots.

It's optional for my daughter, and she's had two already but we haven't had time to go for her third, which she was supposed to have at 24 months... she is now 27 months. I wonder if it'll still be effective.. we will go at the end of this month for sure.
