It used to be that one had to go to Mok-dong immigration in order to get the F2, or to upgrade from the F2 to the F5; however, as of January 1st, you must now report to your LOCAL immigration office. They have a map at immigration showing the location of all local offices.
They will NOT process your visa at another office. We made that mistake today. Grrrrrrrr..... (fingers hilt of sword)
The good news? You never have to make that exasperating trip to Mok-dong again (unless you live in that area).

| Anyone know what happens when your passport expires? I assume I'll have to visit immigration to get the visa transferred over, but would like confirmation. |

Did it for my wife just this very afternoon (about 4 hours ago).
Pop into your local immigration office with the old passport, the new passport and ARC.
Fill in the handy dandy one-size-fits-all application form.
They change the numbers in the computer and put your stamps, re-entry permits etc in the new passport.
In and out in 20 minutes.
You are officially required to do this within 14 days of getting your new passport.
As a side note, when I renewed my passport 2 years ago I did NOT do this and I just left when my visa expired. I got a strange look from the guy at the exit counter, he took my ARC, plugged it into the computer and let me go.
Got my new visa and came back a few days later and was good to go. No problems. |
