I went out last night, came home, and found that my gas burners don't work, and I have to wait until Tuesday to get them fixed. I am so pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They worked fine yesterday morning and the bill has been paid, too. I just got a new one that isn't due until the 20th. So, I am wondering why my gas is not working. There was no note on my door from the gas company either. Evil or Very Mad

You have to turn the little dial where the gas line from the burners connects to the gas line into the apartment. I've usually found that vertical is on and horizontal is off.

Thank you, but I already tried that. It was working fine Friday morning, and then last night, NOTHING. I can smell the gas when I ty to turn it on. My bos said maybe the spark is not working. He mentioned finding a gas burner lighter at the store, but he said nothing can get fixed until Tuesday. Damn holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can smell gas, then the gas is working. Is it that hard to use a match or lighter to get the flame going?

Yeah, just light it with a match. Just make sure that there isn't too much gas in the air before you do. Its pretty safe though. That was the only way to light the stove or oven when I lived in Argentina. After you've done it a couple of times, its not scary anymore.

My gas burner stopped working a couple months ago so I got someone from the school to come check it. It seems that those things actually have a battery that makes the spark to light the gas. So probably all you need is a new battery. Check the back of the unit, that's where our battery was.
