| I believe that the U.S. government can succeed in Iraq by having lots of check points in the capital and securing the capital and in a sense finding a way to shut out the Shiite and Sunni terrorists and get commerce going in Baghdad and construction. It won't be easy. I think it can be done, but the patience of the American public is running out rather quickly. I am not sure if I would say I am opitimistic as much as I believe it can be done and there is a good possibility that violence can be reduced with the proper leadership. I will give the new commander the benefit of the doubt. |

Yes, it is running out. Rather, it has run out. Unless of course, you don't think majority rule is still an important part of the US political system.
I wonder how much more upset we'd be if the body count of "professional" soldiers were included. |

| The war is unwinnable. It's eerily like Vietnam, not just in the type of war being fought which has similarities and also vast differences, but in the way that the politicians are (and have) defended/supported/escalated/etc this awful war. Now we have the Bush Crime Family trying to start a war against Iran, I hope they attack Iran cause that will be the nail in the coffin for this administration, these people (right wingers) and this war. |
