|
|
| Any advice on the best place to do my digital camera shopping next week? Not too fussy about brand, want something in the Ultra-compact or compact area, and obviously want to pay as little as possible. I was just going to head out to Yongsan and see what's what but now I've heard that Namdaemun might be able to offer me something. Anyone able to help me out with some advice? |

Either one are bound to be pretty close in price. The large gaps in digicam prices between regular stores and namdemun are not as large these days.
I'm a fan of Canon and Nikon. Sony isn't bad, either. There are so many good digicams, really. |

Thanks, you're right that there are alot of good cameras out there. That's the problem, I have no idea what I want I'm drowning in a sea of indecision. |

| Try the Canon PowerShot SD600, or the Canon PowerShot SD630, with a three inch LCD display. I'm also buying next week but haven't been able to decide between the SD630 (very compact, 8 MP and large 3" LCD) or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 (10 MP and Leica lens). |

| Those are both beautiful cameras but what kind of prices have you found? |

| Actually, I'm certain I'm going w/ the Lumix, the Canon has too much red eye...for the basic camera 360,000. |

Looking forward to your review/ comments on that one after you have had it for a few weeks. I am looking at buying a new digicam in the next month or so (in Korea), and have always been partial to canon... |

Find what you want, in your price range, on the Korean sites, print them out. Go to Yongsan, and go from place to place and find the best deal. Haggle.... get extras thrown in ...memory card (hi speeed- low speed), lenses, cases, chargers, anything else you can think of. Be prepared to pay cash and to walk away if you feel it's not kosher or they are quoting too high a price.
www.dpreview.com is a good place to give you an idea of what you might want.
so far I've had 2 friends ask me to go with them there and haggle because they weren't the haggling type.
It's not for everyone but it works, especially if you know exactly what you want. |
