Last time I flew (a few months ago), you were not allowed to bring a bottle of water on board UNLESS you purchased it after going though security. This might have changed, however.

i just flew in on saturday, and the no liquids/gels still stands. nothing over 4 ounces (toothpaste, bodywash, water, etc), and for bits that ARE under 4 must be in a ziplock bag and shown to security at the check point thing. wish i'd known, i'd have packed my toothpaste in my luggage. im yet to find AIM here. it's my favorite.

Is the ban on liquids in effect for flights to Canada as well as the US?

im pretty sure it's just the US, but give a call to the airline you're using, or check their website to know for sure.

In the US you can bring drinks on the plane after you go through security, what i teach said is true about the rest.

HOWEVER, if you are going to the US from here they wont allow you to bring drinks on the plane like in the US. They are also doing through checks of all carry on luggage at the gates both here in Korea and in Bangkok from what I saw last nite in Bangkok (Thai has a Bangkok-NYC nonstop)

Leaving Korea yesterday I was checked for liquids at the security gate, then again before entering the plane. An almost-empty tube of shaving cream that I had gotten through the first one was confiscated the second time. Again in Tokyo, two checkpoints for liquids. In the States, they announced that anything bought after security could be carried on board...but I didn't hear or read that in either Incheon or Narita. If you want to try it, I'd save my receipt and discuss it with whoever's checking. Secondly, if you keep all of your liquids in the ziploc bag together in one place then keep your drink (bought after security) in your purse or some other carry-on, you can "help" the inspector at the gate by pulling out the ziploc bag of liquids to show them you've complied. When I did that in Tokyo, the lady smiled, said 'thank you' and didn't look through anything else I was carrying.
