Hi - Could anyone tell me the best way to send money back to Britain please? Money order or wire transfer to my British bank account? Also - re: wiring the cash - do you know the charges for sending from KB Bank and are there charges in the UK to receive the money? I am with HSBC back home. Thanks everyone.

I have sent money home to the UK twice from a KEB bank. On both ocassions it showed on my UK HSBC bank balance by the end of the same day.

Last time I transferred 2 million won and there was a charge of 23,000 won by KEB - which I understand is a good price. HSBC did not charge for receiving the funds.

I needed to show:

my passport
alien card
UK account details/sort code acc number and my branch's name and address.

The bank did not ask to see my salary list confirming how much I have earned but I understand, strictly, this is required.

Hope this helps.

The way that myself and many of the other teachers I know do it is when we opened our bank accounts we asked for an international card (I think they charged 1 or something for it). We then send the card home to our parents/friend/other and give them the pin number (obviously not sending the pin number through the mail with the card!). They can take out however much money in pounds from your Korean bank account as you want and pay it back into your English bank account or pay bills or whatever else you want them to do with it. I think it maybe charges you about 50p or 1 when they withdraw the money. Hope that helps.
