Hi,
I'm moving to Seoul in 10 days, however I don't know where I'm teaching yet. Is this normal? I'm going with a company called 'footprints', and I'm teaching in a public school in Guro. I'm expecting an email from the recruiters indicating the name of the school, but I am getting rather nervous considering that I am so close to my departure date. Are many of the public schools blacklisted or is it more common for Hagwons?
Thanks! |

I never heard of the blacklisted public school in Korea. However, it doesn't mean that they won't screw you, and arguments will never occur. Since public schools are ran by the government, you can always take complaints to the board of education. Some teachers have had great success resolving matters through the board of education.
For the most part it really depends on the school. If you get on with a great public school job with a awsome principal then you will have an ejoyable experience. However, if the principal doesn't like you, then you might be in for some tough times. Public school jobs are hit and miss, but it is always hogwans who get black listed. |
