Teachers Needed in Kabul, Afghanistan
Posted By: American University of Afghanistan <[email protected]>
Date: Wednesday, 14 February 2007, at 11:46 a.m.
AUAf offers a Foundation Studies Program of intensive English language, IT and study skills tuition for students who do not yet have the required level of English to enter the undergraduate program. Currently, AUAf offers four-year liberal-arts degrees in Business Administration and Information Communication Technology with all classes taught in English. The purpose of AUAf is to provide graduates with the professional skills needed to become world citizens and to prosper in the global economy as they help reconstruct Afghanistan.
The university also offers Professional Development courses aimed at Afghan professionals who are working for international organizations, government departments and private companies. These courses improve skills such as Business English communication techniques. The PDI also offers TOEFL preparation courses in addition to custom designed courses for businesses and organizations in Afghanistan.
We are currently seeking applicants (with a masters degree) for:
• Director of the Foundation Studies Program
• ESL instructors (Foundation Studies Program/Professional Development
Institute)
• Interns (six-month)
We will be recruiting at TESOL Arabia, March 14-16. Face-to-face interviews are strongly preferred. For more information, go to our website at www.auaf.edu.af or contact us at [email protected]. |
It had better pay well.... chances of getting slaughtered in the street by some angry Taleban is high! But at least you could buy an AK-47 and a few RPGs at the market to keep yourself safe. |

Not really.
The type of person who would be interested in it would not make their decision by comparing greenbacks with other positions. It's not about the money. In fact, to those who would make it a financial decision based on financial risk/reward, they couldn't possibly pay enough!! For sure it'll be less pay than Saudi Arabia and South Korea. But more rewarding. |

I have an acquaintance who taught in Kabul, not at a university, but as an English speaking PE teacher. He did awake one morning to a bomb going off in his neighborhood, and had some windows in his house blasted out.
Yeah, not about the money. About the experience, the people, and trying to do something for others. |

All the KBR employees in Iraq and Afghanistan are doing it because they love their job? No way. Money is a big, big factor. The job will probably pay 50-120K per year. Of course it depends on the funding source.. |

It had better the christ pay ten times what we make here. It's not worth the risk for any civilian to go there. If anyone I knew was thinking of doing that, I'd talk them out of it, and if they still decided to go, I'd tie them to a chair when their plane was supposed to leave. |

If I'm reading this right that's your previous wage for doing the job plus 25% plus 25%.
And no mention of AK47 rebate. |
