anyone else heard about this? i've had two friends get their houses robbed in the past week. in both cases, no electronics or anything were taken -- only large amounts of cash, passports, etc.

are these just isolated incidents (seems improbable), or is there something bigger going on?

make sure to lock/double-lock your doors, and check who's watching you when you enter your building. it's easy to target foreigners in a place where legal recourse isn't so accessible.

Which part of Itaewon? There were some cat burglaries around Haebangchon last year.

3 years ago, there were a bunch of robberies in Itaewon 2-dong. They claimed they were committed by foreigners, of course.

There was a long-haired army brat that I reckon was casing my neighbourhood last year. He had no reason to be wandering into my compound. When I challenged him he made a lame excuse about looking for friends then headed off in a totally random direction.

Keep an eye out for people who don't belong, and don't be afraid to ask them what they're doing if you see someone suspicious.

I was burgled and had to waste over an hour at the police station where they kept asking me who I suspected (WTF?).

Then they fingerprinted me altho' they never dusted my apartment for fingerprints. Confused

Why wouldn't these people keep their cash in the bank? The passports I can understand though...
