Mope. If they they need your documents. Don't the let school trick you into believe that since you signed with them you are obligated to work at the school. You can sign a million contracts, but if no documents are given to process the e2 visa the contract is just pieces of paper. Ever wonder why your employer immediately asks for your documents when you sign the contract? That's because they need them for it to be legally binding. One good strategy when applying for hogwon work is to NOT bring your documents with you. That way you can save yourself a big argument if you are not 100% about the school.
Another good tip is to take the documents to immigration yourself!!! Some hogwon owners like to keep peoples degrees to prevent them from doing a runner. If you submit the documents yourself you will immediately receive your degree back form the immigration officer, which put it out of the hands of the hogwan directors. If the employer doesn't agree to let you submit the documents yourself, tell them they are insulting your intelligence because it is easy to do. Also, remind them that if they refuse you this option, then you refuse to work for them. What do they have to hide? It's not like you are going to work for them while the visa number is being processed. That's kind of illegal. |
