I've been to Paradise Casino in Busan which unfortunately uses an autoshuffler for blackjack.
Do any of the other casinos in Korea not use one? Twisted Evil

Last time I was there, the Walker Hill dealers where shuffling by hand. The shuffling machines aren't dodgy, just relentless for dealer and punter alike.

I know they aren't dodgy, but they keep you from card counting.

Where is this Walker Hill place.

How??? There is only one shuffle per shoe. Where they cut after the shuffle may affect the card count.

At the paradise, the machine is constantly shuffling.

That's probably because it is shuffling the next shoe. 1 shoe = 5-7 decks usually. So while 1 shoe is in use, the next is being shuffled. For blackjack, 1 shoe will last at least 10 minutes, depending on how many decks are being used.

If only 1 deck is being shuffled by the machine, it isn't blackjack. Probably Carribbean (sp?) Stud poker.

I think what slep is talking about is a device called a 'continuous shuffling machine', that shuffles nonstop. After the hand is completed, the cards are fed back into the machine, which is shaped like a wheel. This device makes card counting techniques impossible, and will soon be standard in every casino worldwide.

The old automatic shufflers would shuffle one deck/s while the other was in use.

Walker Hill Casino in Eastern Seoul uses a manual shuffle from what I have seen. Not sure of the cut-card penetration though, as I was there to play poker.

Kangwon Land Casino in Gangwon Do also uses a manual shuffle, and the dealers were very generous with their cuts, usually no more than a deck. The rules are also player friendly. Too bad it's so damn far away.

Almost no one can count the cards. If they shuffle by hand they still use a minimum of 4 decks in a shoot. There is no way to count a four deck shoot after they cut the cards and have the card cut off-point.
The old deck would shuffle one deck but the shoot would have more than one deck..usually four if you play blackjack.

But it does happen. I dealt blackjack for over 5 years and encountered card counters from time to time.

But back to the shuffling machine. I doubt a casino is going to use a shuffling machine for 1 deck. It would slow the game down too much. 1 shoe yes, but not 1 deck.

I am not flaming anyone, just speaking from experiences on both sides of the table.

Rounders is a great movie, but it's about poker pros, not blackjack.

It's very possible to count cards at blackjack, even in games with shoes of 6-8 decks. Card counters do not track exactly which cards come out of the deck, but instead use counting systems like "high-low" where they add one for every low card (2-6) and subtract one for every high card (10s, face cards and aces) that comes out of the deck, then dividing by the number of decks in the shoe. It takes concentration and a quick eye, but the math is no more complex than single digit arithmetic in most cases.

Card counting is still a lot of work, and a lot of risk for a tiny advantage of usually less than a percent, not a license to print money. I don't particularly recommend it.

For more info about the math behind card counting, check the section of this page labeled "Card Counting".

Do these casinos have craps? And if so, are they Vegas style craps? Thanks.

Paradise Hotel casino is terrible...i have never struggled so much to get a drink. Unless you are not betting 100 000 won a go you are not worth the effort to them.

the one at Seomyeon is a lot better, heaps of free foor and drinks and the tables are a lot more friendlier.
