|
|
| Okay, I think I'm gonna buy a used com but, it has Korean windows on it. The person selling it says it's all switched to English settings. Does this mean all the system menus will be in English? If they are then I could use it. If they are not then I will want to switch to an English version of Windows. How easy is it to do this? I won't be purchasing a valid copy as I don't feel like shelling out 300,000 or so. What's the deal w/ the pirated versions I see for sale in the Tunnel near Young-son? Can I get updates using pirated versions? Can I get a crack w/ them? Will it even work on the Korean com I'm planning to purchase? |

Feel free to correct me if Im wrong... but no, you cant change an operating system from Korean to English..
Changing to English windows usually means:
back up all the files you want to keep.
format hard drive
install English windows
install all your programs IE. Office
copy your files back on to your PC.
you can update copied windows but usually you need to follow some instructions from various windows chat forums. Not exactly easy if you dont know much about pc's, but doable... I havent bought copied OS from Yongsan so cant be sure...
If you are going to buy a P.C. tell them you want windows in English and they will prob do it for you... hope this helped... |

I would have to agree with shetan. Your programs will run in English, things will "mostly" be in English, but Windows menus stay in Korean.
buying new or upgrading is the only way to change.. |

| you're just now getting it, so it has no programs or files you really need, right? Go to Yongsan, give the guy in the tunnel 25K, get a nice copy of whatever windows you like (XP, Pro, Media, 2005, etc). Go home, put it in the computer and install it. You may have to format the hard drive, but that'll be an option there (in English). Again, you aren't keeping anything, so it won't kill you to start fresh. Next thing you do is download bitcomet, go to isohunt.com or thepiratebay.org and go nuts getting ie7, office 2007 (awesome update btw), and anything else you need. Finally, you should know that all critical updates are handled by MS, you will get the important things. The unimportant things, like ie7 or Korean IME, you can download of torrents. |

You can change the language of the windows xp interface BUT not from Korean to Eng. Only visa-versa.
So....do what others have said and re-format the drive with XP in Eng.
As far as getting updates from MS, patching every time a new version of Windows Genuine Advantage comes out can become a chore. So it's best to get a totally clean version that whistles thru Microsoft's Checks.
Check you PMs Spliff. |
