I don't know if this has been posted but a friend forwarded the link to me so I thought I'd pass it along. It's a DMZ tour from the North looking at the South.

Hey if you have time - for the benefit of us that don't have time to watch the whole movie - would you be able to quote some of the highlights please...?

Could be interesting...

Cool

It has commentary from some Spanish-speaking guy speaking in English telling the tour group all the typical NK propaganda: SK is a puppet of the US. The Korean soldiers are in front and the Americans are hiding behind. Etc. Things are a LOT more free at the border than the ads for tours lead one to believe. Or maybe those NKs are a lot less anal than we've been led to believe. Smile

Years ago a guy from the former USSR used the northern DMZ tour as a chance to sprint across the line and defect to the south. I think several Korean soliders (from both sides) were killed in the resulting firefight but the Russian guy made it.

This is true. Did you also know that one of the first (maybe only) KPA KIA of the engagement was the same officer that gave the order to kill US officers Bonifas and Barrett? I've had that confirmed by several sources (at the JSA), but no one would confirm if his killing was a result of the firefight at hand, or 'payback' for what had happened several years before.

Hairy Sue you also have no clue what you are talking about. Thats actually a GOOD STANCE. It is a stance called ROK READY by the US Army. It gives less of a target for NK soldiers while allowing the ROK Soldier to see whats going on.
Also, since South Korea selects only the tallest out of the conscripts for this, combined with the dark shades, it ups the intimidation factor. Why dont you learn what your talking about before hand????
