Since Valve decided that, short of coming to my house and slowly tearing my fingernails out with a pair of rusty pliers, the best way to torment rabid Half-Life fans would be to make them wait ONE MORE WHOLE YEAR, there seem to be no good alternates to playing the finest game in PC game history.
The perfect balance between first-person shooter and the action/adventure genre is unequaled as far as I know. I tried playing Oblivion, but the art direction on that game is on par with a Ralph Bashki cartoon...it's utter crap. What else is out there? |

| I haven't played F.E.A.R. in a bit; need to get back into it. Currently, Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour. |

Doom 3 is really great! Awesome story, scary, blow the crap out of lots of stuff, nice graphics engine...crazy fun!
Bad point...you have to use your flashlight and weapons separately. No one ever heard of duct tape in the future? This is done on purpose, of course, to heighten the "scariness" and "jump at you" factor of the game.
Five stars!
I love half-life too! great game! |

| Just bought a new gaming laptop a year after my first one was stolen from my apartment in safe-ole Korea. First game back in - Half-life 2. Some games just can't be beaten for sheer - amazing everytime you play it - ability. But where to from here? I'm thinking - Call of Duty 2 having done some reading on the best first person shooters to get. Any thoughts? |

| Call of Duty 1 or 2 is my favorite wartime FPS. Really, really immersive. You feel like you're right in the war. Highly recommended. I've played them 3-4 times through...and I don't usually repeat-play games. |

Riddick is a pretty cool game. I played it for a while on the xbox until the stealth sections which were a real bitch to play. The whole no guns thing was a little annoying at times. Overused bump-mapping too so it looks all shiny and weird.
Half-Life 2 is a game I've been meaning to go back to, not having finished it on my first play. I now have a 32" screen to play it on.
Condemed is a pretty good FPS with lots of scares and some good tactile combat. Made with the same engine as Fear so it requires a decent PC, especially CPU and GPU. |

The designer of that series, Julian Gollup, is a genius. Made some great addictive games for the spectrum in the old days, including Chaos and Lords of Chaos. Anyone remember Mike Singleton? He's gotta be my favourite of all time - games like Lords of Midnight, Doomdark's Revenge and Dark Sceptre are still great today! |

Game is available for download now. I had mine shipped by EB games, assclowns charged me $30 for shipping, then the next week I could have just downloaded it. I was pissed |
