Apart from finding somewhere and having money, do I need anything else? Specifically, do I need ID? Immigration has my passport and foreigner card right now, but I want to rent somewhere tomorrow.. is this likely to be possible? I have my (foreign) drivers licence, korean bank cards and korean bank book.. will this be enough?

Normally, cash and willing to sign on the dotted line. I'm sure that some landlord may want an ID, but not really. Ask about your job and how long you will be here.

When I rented my apt I needed my ID NUMBER. If you know your number, you won't need the card. I've had the same number for years and still can't remember it. Hope you have a better memory for numbers than I do.

I didn't need ANYTHING to rent a place I was in. It was a ha-sook, and I'm not sure the landlord ever knew my name...he might have had a vague idea that a white foreigner lived in his building...seemed quite surprised each month when I paid the rent.

I just needed my alien number or my passport number. Luckily I found a document with my alien number on it so it all went well.
