There are many linux distributions (flavors). Which one would you need?
What would you like to use your computer running Linux for?
Fedora is an open-source version of Red Hat Linux having new technologies that are going to be implemented in Red Hat releases in the future. Red Hat is a company making Linux distributions and support which is geared for business users. So, from stability and user-base point of use its good.
Nowadays, Ubnutu (sp?) Linux is also popular.
If you need to download and install you would need CD/DVD version or over the network installation, but judging by your post, since you refer to linux simply as linux, I am not sure if you can do network installs, etc.
Please be more specific. |

Linux based PDA has nothing to do with one of the Linux OS distribution. Its linux BASED PDA with custom interface, etc - you never "see or feel" underlying OS.
I wish you and your wife good fun in this adjustment period to a new OS.
Please understand, Linux is like Unix which has been around for decades....you can do many things wrong and do them right...not much can be done with point & click though like on Windows. |

I disagree. I've tried loads of linux distributions and you would be surprised how many these days are geared towards windows converts - Ubuntu, Suse and PC Linux OS immediatley spring to mind.
@OP - feel free to PM me if you install one and have any questions as I currently run linux myself.
