As Ive mentioned, I cant go home at 5 oclock on Fridays because my Filipina maid is there doing her thing. Since I live just down the road from a cheap but tasty place with a terrific view, it isnt really an imposition.

After fooling around the office getting stuff ready for Monday morning, I got in the car and started driving up to the Golf Club. I rI hadn't gotten very far when I ran across the two Chinese guys who are here teaching Chinese in the other part of my school. I offered them a ride home, since its just a turn and a short way from the way I was headed and Im a nice guy.

As I was driving them home I mentioned that I was headed up to the Golf Course and a beer or two and they were welcome to come along. They agreed.

Theyd already eaten but drank a beer while I ate my Philly Steak sandwich and we had a nice chat. GD told us about his dad getting tossed out of the city by Mao back in the Cultural Revolution and how the government lost track of him, so he was able to get married and have 6 kids before being allowed back into the city. And then we paid the bill and started back.

As we were going out the door, GD was last in line and he politely held the door for an American couple who were behind us. The woman said, Komapsumnida.

GDs friend blew up. He held up his backpack with the Chinese flag decal and pointed at it while yelling something like, Im not a &*%^)$^@ Korean, Im Chinese. Why cant people around here respect our identity? Then he threw his backpack on the ground. I thought the American dude was going to deck him. He got between GDs friend and his wife and started shouting back about how his wife had meant no disrespect, that she was just trying to be polite and why couldnt he take the comment the way in which it was intended, but it was all lost on GDs friend. The friend was sort of jumping up and down and I swear he was frothing at the mouth. (Later GD said his friend was screaming every bad word in the Chinese vocabulary. Wish I understood more Chinese. It might have been entertaining to hear it.)

GD and I were able to drag his friend away before anything else happened. But in the car the friend said something like, There are 1.3 billion of us Chinese and were going to be #1. You big noses had better learn to start distinguishing between us and the rest of the $(&%& East Asians."

I asked why he was so sensitive, and he said hed been jumped on by a Westerner in Beijing who he'd asked if he were an American and got an irate lecture about how not all Westerners are Americans.

Actually, the whole thing was kind of funny. If it had come to blows, Im pretty sure the American woman alone could have taken both of the Chinese guys. They are pretty scrawny.

Apples and Oranges. Guy was just looking for an excuse to empower himself.

Him in China: "Hey, American person, can you talk to me and be my friend?"

Response: "Just because I'm white doesn't mean I'm American"

Fast Forward

Him in Korea, holding a door for a white woman who says thanks in Korean, because we are, after all, in Korea: "We're not all fucking Korean, bithc!"

What a tool.

I didn't know this was mentioned previously, but I was expecting it to have something to do with your post. It really didn't. Totally unnecessary to include this in your account.

Is there something we should know about her, other than that she is Filipino, and a maid? And she works at your house on Fridays at 5 o'clock?

Is she hot? Have you got it on? Has she barred you from being in the house while she's 'doing her thing'?

Yeah, but if you put 1.3 billion scrawny Chinese dudes up against 300,000 American women, then you couldn't be so sure.

Yeah, what is that?

"I had to leave for work later than usual today because I suddenly had to take a dump. This has absolutely nothing to do with what I'm going to tell you next, but, as you know, I suddenly have to take dumps sometimes. Or I thought you might be jealous and/or impressed that I do."

I work with a British chick who pitches fits daily as she walks the 10 minutes to work. Seems she believes all Koreans need to acknowledge that British traffic laws are superior to Korean ones (or lack of ones) so she takes it apon herself to walk into crosswalks as cars approach, and to scream as loud as possible when they don't stop as in her homeland. Also likes to hit cars with her bag. Also likes to get pissed off at the secretary for not knowing English (although she knows some), while the Brit has not learned Hangul or basic words in over 2 years in Korea.

Slightly off topic, but the Chinese madman's antics reminded me of the British madlady's antics.

A lot of stereotypical generalisations on this thread. "Chinese men are scrawny", "British people expect everyone to follow their own high standards". Chill dudes, open up to the wide world of differences that exist aside from nationality.

I didn't see generalizations being made. There were references to two scrawny Chinese guys and an uptight Brit woman.

This happens in the real world. Relax and accept it.

My point was that said British chick believes in the superiority of British drivers, and believes that all Korean drivers, seeing her white skin, should treat her in a way that she would be treated at home. Even though 99.9999% of them have never driven in England. And wouldn't know what is acceptable driving for a Korean in Korea when confronted with an illogical waygook. The mental gymnastics necessary for me to understand British madlady's thinking are beyond my mental functioning.

I thought he mentioned her because that was the reason he was eating at the golf course and not at home. He probably doesn't want to get in her way.
