Does anyone have any information on this place? I know it borders Seoul so I will be close to the action. What is the foreign community like here? Does one exist? There is a public middle school job I am thinking about taking. Since I will be the only teacher, I would like to make contacts in the area.

Thanks.

I'm living in that neighbourhood now...I do see lots of foreigners around, but I'm still pretty new to town, so I don't know if there is a "community" per se. The few times I've ventured out in my month or so here have been to Gagnam and Itaewon. I'm looking to make contacts around here too, so drop me a PM when ya roll into town...
the neighbourhood itslef isn't too bad...right on the subway line, so its easy to get anywhere, there's loads of western and Korean restaurants around, and a bar district. From my very limited travels around Seoul, Choelsan doesn't have anything to really set it apart from any other neighbourhood, nor does it have anything really going against it.
Anyhow, I hope this helped...
Cheers

Hi chachee99,

I live here and I like the place. It was exactly what I was looking for: about 30-40min out from the heart of seoul so not too big but its got everything you need. There's a few of us around, as usual find the Wa Bar and you'll eventually meet up...

There's a subway line right in Chelson so its easy to get to Hongdae, Iteawon, etc. Enjoy Cool

wow, so there are foreigners in the area. I was there last week during the day time. It looked like it could be a decent place to live. However, not knowing people can make it dull.

It's great to see peoples replies.
