Hello and happy new year.

"mostly over 40" will have a lunch meeting on Sunday March 11th, 12:30,
at an Indian Buffet in Itaewon. Details will be given to anyone who would like to attend. I would like to know sort of how many people will come, becuase I have to tell the resturant.

No, you do not have to be over 40 to attend. The reason I am making the reservation at 12:30 is because I have to get back to Gangneung.

This is a good way to meet people, and obviously you can exchange phone numbers and make plans to get together at other times.

Why not at least post the name of the restaurant here?

I'm very picky - especially about Indian restaurants. Why not a discussion or a vote on which one in Itaewon would the best - and cleanest - not just the cheapest...

If it's Ashoka, I'll be in - and I'll suggest to "Hater Depot" to maybe schedule a vegetarian club gathering there the same day to get a bigger crowd...

Actually, it might be awkward to have the Seoul Veggie club and "almost 40" meet at the same place - unless we sat at separate tables ...

And, the Ashoka is about twice as expensive as most of the other Indian joints in Itaewon - about 25,000 won for lunch buffet, I think (and I know how expensive those express bus rides are from Gangneung - scenic route, though...)

C'mon, which restaurant is it? "An Indian Buffet" isn't the name of any place I'm familiar with.

The resturant is Chakraa Indian Resturant Their web link is www.chakraa.co.kr

We have been there before, the total bill is 15,400

The menu is good. It is not the greatest, but it is a good choice, and the price is right. You can also purchase beer.

Itaewon is just a good location, and that is why I made it there. Some people come from "out of town", and "whatthebook" and the "International Food Shop" are there.

You can email the resturant, and they will tell you what foods they have that are vegetarian. I know they have vegetarian items.

I tried it once. The waitress/manager/whatever was a friendly Mongolian woman, and the cooks were Muslim, I think. I didn't think that it was too bad, but then (last year) I read the thread on this forum titled "Really Nice Indian food in Itaewon."

"I_ Am_Wrong" posted that his girl friend used to work at Chakra, and that they had a bad roach problem, and the kitchen was dirty...

I don't know if that was factually true -or-not, and - if so - I don't know if conditions have improved to a decent standard of cleanliness...

the *beep* is supposed to be "c-o-c-k-roaches." My friend's wife used to work for Chaakra on their business and marketing end. They don't pay their bills, they don't pay their employees, they refused to pay her, they don't clean their kitchen and it's crawling with roaches.

My friend's brother in law does importing from India. He worked out a business arrangement with the people from Chaakra to do some stuff in India. It ended up with his brother and sister in law being held captive.

Now, it could just be something put out by the boy friend of a disgruntled employee, but - maybe he's not "Wrong"...

Chakra is OK. Decent food, decent surroundings, reasonable price, draught beer.

And 3 Alleys is but 100 metres away for the final cleansing ale.
