I've been lurking on this board for a while, but this is my first post. I've been in Korea about three weeks now.
I brought over my PS2 from the US, along with a voltage converter I bought at home. When I went to plug in the converter when I got here, however, one of the prongs broke off! I was reading some other threads on this topic, and someone mentions that you can just have the power supply on the PS2 switched out so it can handle 220V.
Can anyone tell where I can get this done and how much it might cost? If not, where can I find a new converter? Thanks ahead of time for your help. |

Anywhere that sells Sony Playstation stuff will have power adapters, they're easy to find. I found one at the Walmart near me (I'm in Pohang so can't help you locally) but pretty much every game store has PS2 stuff, shouldn't be hard to find at all.
And yes, you just need the adapter, it converts the 220v to whatever it is the PS2 actually wants. |

I'm bumping this thread because I have a similar question. I also have an American PS2 -- it's the big one, not the newer slim ones. I brought it over to Thailand when I was teaching there and bought a power converter. On the top of the converter it says:
Input AC 220 V
Cycle 50 MHz
Output AC 110V
I assume I will need this when I bring my PS2 to Korea. The problem is that the prongs are different -- they look like Thai prongs because it was made in Thailand. So if I attach an adaptor to the convertor, and then plug in my PS2, it will work, right? Just don't want to blow the fuse. |

seems like it would just be easier to get a converter here.. adaptors can sometimes mess with fuses (at least in my case)..
converters are relatively cheap I guess, and trustworthy (which might be more important).. of course, if you're still using the old PS2s, you might just consider buying a new modded slim version in Korea |

| I actually got it modded in Thailand. Where could I pick up a converter in Busan? |
