Tonight I just decided to go to Thailand for a few days. I'll call around tomorrow, for the cheapest ticket, and fly out the same day (hopefully). I'll spend a day in Bangkok and then fly out to Phuket. Just wondering if anyone can tell me a decent place to stay in while in Bangkok. What about accommodations in Phuket? What are some places I should check out during my time in Thailand. What should I avoid. Anything I should be aware of, or be careful about, while there? I haven't done any planning at all (it's almost 1:00 am as I type this). How much money should I take? I read up on a lot of the threads on here, and some other sites, about Thailand just to get a picture of what to expect. Or, should I not go until I've thought this out more than I have and plan the trip? I'm hoping to meet up with a friend who's already there (hoping she'll get my e-mail). If not, I'll just do whatever on my own.

lots of information for places to stay at www.phuket.com you can maybe find places to stay at the same website but some cheaper ones are www.asiarooms.com and www.latestays.com All the questions you asked depend on what you want to do. Phuket isn't cheap and can be pretty expensive if you want to do things like golfing etc. You can scuba dive if you are already certified or take the open water course. You can also look into direct flights to phuket as well to avoid the stop over in Bangkok.
