I have just walked through the main teacher's room at my public school and the annual desk move is in progress.

Does anyone know the story behind this annual ritual?

We started ours last Friday.Still going today,I'd had enough and left.

It's bizarre isn't it.You'd think someone would just roughly measure the room, number of desks, internet ports, photocopiers and wotnot, draw a plan and we could get it done quicksmart.

I think though that with the start of the new year, everybody's promotions have to be reflected in a big neverending pungsu exercise.

That and the Korean men couldn't organise a piss-up in a brothel.I watched them trying to add on one desk at the end. They couldn't just go around,EVERYTHING had to be unplugged and shifted so they could go through the middle.

Farccccccckkkkkkk.

In my private school, they like grouping the homeroom teacher's desks of the same grade together.

At the public schools, every year some teachers are rotated in and out to other schools.

I haven't been there in over a week. I'll show up on Friday because that's when classes start. I guess I'm not missed.

i've done it twice--- once on friday to a different building, once today to a different desk, which was then switched round facing the other direction.

I believe ours will be tomorrow when all the teachers get back from vacation. Most of the teachers look like they've already packed up their stuff and are ready to move.

desk moving at my school was fun
everyone shifting moving around screaming at the person for not taking care of their desk better and seeing what lurks within.

Sometimes you just have to play the right game.
