Here's one for you contract experts out there:
My contract calls for me to teach 30 50-minute classes a week for the monthly salary. However, my school only has 45-minute classes. There was no issue my first five months here, as I was always scheduled for fewer than 30 classes. But now, with a new semester starting next week, I'm down for 32 classes. My director says since the contract lists 50-minute classes, and I only teach 45-minute classes, my max number of classes is closer to 34 or 35 and not 30. My argument is that my contract states 30 classes, plain and simple. Based on their reasoning, they could schedule me for 75 20-minute classes a week, which would obviously be a whole lot more work. So the question is, do they have a right to schedule me for more than 30 classes just because the class length is 5 minutes shorter than listed in the contract? Appreciate any feedback. |
