Anyone know the procedure for cashing in large amounts of korean coins?

Should I take them to the bank and have them sort it out? or what??

Ask your Korean co-teacher if there is a counting fee at some or all Korean banks. I have about 3 kg of coins too, & leave in May.

I bank with KEB and every year I take in a huge amount of coins. They will sort them for you on the spot if they aren't busy (they have a machine that does it). If they are, they will sort them later and deposit the money into your account.

Usually your bank will just take them for free if you act like a confused foreigner. I'm not sure about Seoul, but it works in the sticks.

I'll take them.

Anyone who has coins, just give them to me. It will be my good deed of the new year.

The subway ticket machine will take 10-won coins. I once crashed a subway machine trying to feed it too many.

Me too!! I must me mental too.

Stuff like coffee machines, tunnel/highway fees (if you drive).
10won coins are good to throw at people who try to run you over at crossings.
Giving the right amount or a bit extra to get only notes as change.
Ice-creams!!
