Ahoy. I'm looking for a decent sized pool near Sungshin Women's University with open swim. There's one kind of by my place but it's tiny and crowded and I think you have to take a class or sign up for a time or something strange. Any swimmers out there know of anywhere good? I'd imagine that the uni's have pools, but I don't know if they're open to the public.
Any help wins you good karma. Thanks. |

I used to live near there.
One pool I know is on top of the mountain between Sungshin and Korea University. THe mountain name is "Gae-eun-san". That pool has about three times a day where you can do lane swimming without being part of a lesson group -- app. 12-1, 5-6, and 8-9 ...
It's crowded usually, but for lack of a better alternative I went there fairly often.
Otherwise, your only other option may be to get yourself onto subway line 5, and make the long trek to Olympic Park, where there's a great pool virtually always open for lane swimmers, and not crowded.
In the summer, a park called Dreamland, near Mia-samgeori, is a good place to do outdoor swimming -- about a 3500 won cab ride from Sungshin. |
