This weekend my apartment was broken into and me and my girlfriends notebook computers were stolen..

We live in Pohang, so if anyone comes accross either an English only Dell Inspiron 9400 (17 inch model) or a Compaq Armada M Series (from about 5 years ago that one) computer in a second hand shop or advertised or anything please PM me or something. I figure since both computers are English only (English Windows and English Keyboards) whoever tries to sell them might try the foreigner community..

Anyways, its a long shot but you never know...

Ouch. A Korean friend had her place broken into a couple times. Have you ever ordered anything? She suspects the delivery people figure out when you're not in and then pass on that info to their burglar friend.

I also live in Pohang, and our university has a large expat community, so I'll keep my eyes and ears open. However, the thieves would probably just reformat it and replace the keys.

I'm not sure which of us you were asking, but personally, I'm inbetween Heunghae and Pohang, about fifteen minutes drive from 육거리.

Thats sad! Sorry to hear it. I have a question did you have laptop locks for the power cord and the lock to lock it to the desk/table? Just curious I will be heading to Korea soon and I was thinking about buying locks to bring with my laptop so it is safe against thieves.

Hmm yeah, i guess that might have been a little confusing. I was asking Crowzone. Just in case i ever happen to be in his dong or in the area and i see the stuff he wants us to look out for. Also, it'd be good to know where these guys strike....

I know dell does theft insurance on their computers as an option (I took it for mine after my friend got her laptop stolen), dunno if they can help you.

Sorry it took so long to get back to people...

Anyways -- i'm in the I-dong area of Pohang, to the person who asked.. I know they'd probably just reformat and switch keys, but I have to believe that Dell inspirons are not exactly common computers to be found here in Korea..

Anyways just in case you see it I appreciate any heads ups..

I will call Dell soon -- I know I got he complete care version of the warranty so maybe it is covered? I donno, I"ll have to ask..

Anyone dumb enough to do that deserves to get caught. First thing I'd do is do a clean re0install then strip her down for parts.
