Most of us have heard the expression "zone out." We all need to zone out once in awhile. It reduces stress and allows time for our brain cells to recharge, as it were.

We're fortunate that in Korea boundless opportunities present themselves to become a Zombie.

Here's my 3-step approach (feel free to offer your own advice)

1. Watch a 6 hour block of the cable TV channel On Style non-stop. The vapid conversation, continuous references to Paris Hilton, and tiresome fashion comments are sure to induce a catatonic state. Count the number of times you hear the words "On Style" and see the number "15."

2. Watch a Korean cooking info-mercial where the audience goes "Whoooo" every half minute. Try to anticipate these brainless choral responses so that your "whooo" is in sync with the studio audience. Be sure not to stare at the hottie stars that often make guest appearances on these shows for food tasting contests as that is distracting.

3. Ride the local bus for several loops and try to count the number of smiles you notice from the passengers (no need to bring a calculator). Or just hang out at the bus stop and find out which person stares at their open cell phone the longest.

There's a much quicker way. Just get bitten by one of those people handing out religious pamphlets.

Or come to Dave's and hear all about the pain a pamphlet causes little missy EFL teachers.

I'm so disappointed by this thread. I was seriously hoping to see something on the news tonight about some sort of zombie holocaust in Seoul.

Damn you.
