so what was it like at your schools with the teachers running around, moving stuff, new departments and getting a new co-teacher?
mine was chaotic. and my new co-teacher happens to be one of the new teachers coming into the school. i hope she'll be able to help me out.

Just the standard last minute Koean shuffle. On my first day of work the office was a complete mess. The kids English suppies were not even shorted out! You will find the first week will be a mad scramble. You are not really expected to really teach during this time. At least I wasn't.

During my first week. We did introductions and handed out supplies to the kids. I also made sure each student wrote down their name (Korean and English) and room number in all their English books. Lucky too because some students books managed to get in other teachers classrooms.

Anyways, don't worry about the mad house. Everything will get sorted out within the first full week of classes.

Enjoy the mad rush. It's Korean style.

my school computer breaks down
the Korean/english teacher just found out she's my new co-teacher
shes confused i'm lost
no classes to teach until she figures out how to be my co-teacher
meanwhile did some corny hello to the students and parents on tv.
ahh korean public schools.

Same as always..Internet all day long. But, I'm thinking of cutting out at noon as it's my B-day today. Unless the other teachers are planning on taking me and the wife out for lunch, which wouldn't be surprising...

We had going away parties for 4 departing teachers two weeks ago. I guess between then and now there were some other moves because 3 more teachers didn't come back. Apparently they decided to trim the number of staff. Oh, and when I showed up today I found I don't have a coteacher anymore.

New co-teacher, desk and computer for me. I have a lot of files on my old computer. I would have sorted through them and arranged them so I could transfer them in an orderly fashion. Now it is a cluster �F� trying to make the teacher who inherited my old computer understand not to delete files and that I will move them when we do not have conflict for use of the computer.

We had a welcoming ceremony where I got one of the loudest cheers. And now I'm sitting here. I have no schedule so I have no idea of my classes. But there are three new Korean English teachers. All women, all young so I'm hoping that means they'll be taking a more active role in the classroom. No, I won't be hitting on them because I'm not male and not gay. I just think they're still young enough and their English is decent enough to be an asset in the classroom.

Always is for at least 3 days. what's fun is seeing how long it takes to get a schedule. They know how many student are coming well in advance but always and I do mean always and this is my 6th year at the same school wait until the first day.

I sit around and print out lesson plans and make decorations for my class room till someone bothers to give me a schedule. But it is great entertainment for a few days.

Why are the students there? They had a ceremony and then spent at least two hours alone in their classrooms unsupervised. Walking the halls at this time felt like walking through a scene from �Escape from New York� (dated movie reference lost on younger Davesters). They had nothing to do but rip the classrooms to pieces.
