I only watch tv occasionally, but whenever i do one of the movie channels is invariably showing either Mummy 1 or Mummy 2.

Is there a movie that is repeated more on korean tv?!?! Surely there can't be!

Why don't you go out and rent (or preferably buy) the DVD of the orignal The Mummy, 1932, starring Boris Karloff? I haven't watched it in so long that I've decided that's what I'll be doing tonight. Yay! And thank you.

Before Korea had cable TV, we had the regular 3 or 4 Korean channels and AFKN in English. AFKN just loved showing The Sand Pebbles, 1966, starring Steve McQueen, as their late-late-late movie on weekends. It was beyond the point of insanity. God, how many times have I watched that damn film. Drunken.

I still like the cat scene. Other than that, I just throw something else into the DVD player.

They do like to show it though...

Boris Karloff is the MAN!! rumour has it he did it all with one little make-up kit and his rubbery face. i also adore Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in their '50s horror films.

and Boris did the voice in the original Grinch!

While not Karloff and not a film, you might enjoy this heart-warming little story of the London fog and the time the Guru took a room for 30 shillings a week.

It's introduced by an actor who decades later played one of the leading characters in the television show M*A*S*H.

True Lies

It's on again right now, it was ok the first time I saw it but now I just want to throw things at the TV every time it comes on. Why oh why can't they find something original to show??

Least the Sand Pebbles is a really good flick. Mummy is ok but not Steve McQueen good or ever close. I agree with the poster talking about legally blonde being on all the time. I kinda take it like for everytime they show a good movie like The Matrix, I have to sit through 3 bads ones. Couple weekends ago I watched Son of the Mask and Chronicle of Riddick right after seeing the Matrix. I took it as the price I pay here for good film.

I love "Legally Blonde." Every girl at my university was Elle Woods. All of them. Even me. (That was a long time ago.)

175 Gawddamn Channels and There's Nothing On! ? Is that what you're all crying about? Or are you griping about the crappy movie selection on KBS, MBC & SBS? I don't really know, because...

Since arriving in the Republic, I've had:

-- a year or so of nothing at all

-- then a TV and that was it for about a year

-- then a big-ass satellite dish setup that was already in a place where I moved

-- then cable for a few years

And then at one point my life here became one big, ongoing game of Musical Houses. Buy, rebuild, sell or rent, move out & buy again. Since that time, I've had cable TV for less than one year total, it was around 2000 or early 2001. There was no point, I was rarely home to watch it, rarely watched it when I was home, and wasn't at one address long enough to do even a one-year contract.

For news, I read the papers, the net, listen to the radio in English & Korean. For entertainment, I have music, movies on DVD, the theatre, play with my portfolio, and drink.

Then things slowed down, about a year and a half ago. For the first time in living memory, I spent two Christmases under the same roof. And my girlfriend has been bugging me since last year to get cable, so I finally gave in. Had it connected last Wednesday and since then I have watched a grand total of, oh... 2 hours? And that was mostly news and channel-surfing, just seeing what's on.

So, what channels are you all biatching about that play Mummy 1, Mummy 2, Blade 3, Matrix and Legally Blonde all the time? The Big 3 broadcasters or the flukey cable movie channels? If the latter, then I'd say you people got crap deals. You were cheated. Hoodwinked. Rooked to a fair-thee-well.
