A majority of people believe that Israel and Iran have a mainly negative influence in the world, a poll for the BBC World Service suggests.
It shows that the two countries are closely followed by the United States and North Korea.
The poll asked 28,000 people in 27 countries to rate a dozen countries plus the EU in terms of whether they have a positive or negative influence.
Canada, Japan and the EU are viewed most positively in the survey.
Japan is generally viewed positively, except in China and South Korea.

Interesting indeed. I'm not surprized by the high rankings of Canada and Japan, but I am surprized about how high France and China ranked in the positive categories. France perhaps because of their UN role deserves a place near the top. But China, with their human rights record? That is a suprize. |

good to see venezuela, north korea, iran and russia getting lower marks than the usa. for all we criticise bush (and i do too) it is definitely worth remembering that some of his most vocal opponents are complete charlatans.

Canada, Japan, and the EU are viewed most positively, perhaps because they have all taken less high-profile roles in the world's recent confrontations.
Straight from the report from the OP's poll site. What does it prove? That it's consisered good forum to be pasive and not get involved in pertinent issues in the world? I don't understand Japan having such a high rating. At least they take a stance on something, unlike..... |
