|

i'm quite pissed off at myself...but in my defense the PS blew before I even turned the computer on, just popped the moment I plugged the cable in. Wasn't expecting that.
Here is my question: I opened up the case and can't really access the power supply, its a new HP Slimline, the s7700n, which is super compact so I can't really get to the PS, at least not without taking out more hardware than I know how to.
So I have to take it into an HP shop to get it fixed, right? Anybody know where to find an HP service center, or is this something I can take to any shop in Yongsan? Because its a new computer and built a little different than most normal sized desktops, I'm a little nervous about having anybody but HP service guys look at it. I'm in Ilsan so if there is one close to here that would be great.
(I tried calling the HP korea support line but that was hopeless, the only thing I managed to understand after four calls was "get korean friend". indeed.)
thanks. |

If you have a warranty, then go to HP. Getting a Korean friend to call would be useful...well, ok....necessary.
I found HP Plaza on the net. They are in Youido...Seoul center. The site is Korean only.
02)761-7772 is the number, 서울 특별시 영등포구 여의도동 25 대한빌딩 5층 is the address. Maybe they can help direct you to an A/S center, or perhaps they do it themselves. Either way, you will need Korean to get it done, so find someone to help.
If it's not under warranty, then yes, take it anywhere that will do the work. |

from my experience with HP, being under warranty is no guarantee of after sales service. They may well try, as they did with me, to blame the fault on your own incompetence. I failed to convince them that incompetence lay elsewhere. I will never buy HP again... |

Simply plugging in the com wouldn't imply incompetence, would it? |

It would if that PSU wasn't from Korea and meant for the Korean power grid. |

yeah, no kidding. I wish I had read that sooner, I ended up taking it to an HP shop down the street, when I came to pick it up they had this note taped to it and a bill for 100,000 won.

I think I am going to have this framed. sooo funny. except for the part where I had to pay $100. |

Stuck ya w/ a inflated bill as well as calling you a fruit! I hope you at least called him a puppy after you paid and got your machine back. |

Ok, you're talking about the power supply brick? You should never open one of those up. Mainly because just opening it, even if broken, will void your warranty.
I just bought a used brick at Youngsan for 30,000. I needed a 2nd, and didn't want to pay HP the 50,000 won they wanted for a new one. Screw 'em.
I had purchased a laptop base unit expecting it would at least plug in. It doesn't. You have to use your laptop brick for power. How dumb. The reason for getting a base is so that you don't have to plug and remove the brick whenever you leave. It's a clever ploy to get you to spend yet another 50,000 won plus on a power brick after you've already bought the base.
HP tries to be crafty, too. They make the plugs odd sizes so you can't make use of an older power supply from a previous model -- despite identical current output, amps, and wattage. They want you to buy a new brick at extreme prices. Luckily, Youngsan also sells adapters to make this work.
Echoing your concerns about buying HP again. I won't even get into the bloatware issues, which are horrendous. |

This note is hilarious.
The Korean word for "fruit" is the same word for "mistake." So yeah, they are blaming you. |

I also didn't know that 수리 meant irrigation - I thought it was only repair. kind of fruity if you ask me. |
