I'm currently looking at a position in Pocheon in Gyeonggido. The job looks very promising, but I don't know about the location.

It's tough to find any information about this city! I've looked on galbijim and found that it's a smaller city of about 160,000; but not much else.

Does anyone have any information about this city, good or bad?

Home to a nice nat'l park that's closed weekends and nat'l holidays. Not much in the way of shopping, but there's a HomePlus in Uijongbu that's within reasonable travel distance.

Dear Mr. Clown,

I have been living for a year on the outer rim of Pocheon near Seung Woo Ri which is between Uijeongbu and the city proper.

Pocheon is a cow pasturage which has been innundated by 3D factories in the rural environs.

There are some rolling mountains one being "Sleeping Cow" (Wang Bang San) and the others fading off into the distance. Bearstown Ski Slope is not too far away in Gangwon which abuts near the city.

The distance to Uijeongbu is about forty minutes during non-rush hour. It can be longer due to traffic. The flagship MacDonald's is located on the Pocheon to Uijeongbu Provincial Highway (which often slows to a trickle) as is the National Arboreutum.

A brand-spanking new Home Plus has or is on the verge of opening in Seung Woo Ri which is about ten minutes from Pocheon by local bus.

Think one foot in the rural and one foot in the mucky suburbs of Seoul and you get the picture? Apparently it has never flooded here as it is kind of a plateau valley above Uijeongbu. Think the "Eastern Amazons of Seoul."

Cheers,
Pavement Burns
