Hey all,
Heading to Malaysia in June/July for about a month and I am really wanting to get PADI certified. Anybody know of some good locales or companies to get this done? Also, any other dive spots that I should check out? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Sipadan is the place to dive in Malaysia. It's considered one of the top dive destinations in the world. Maybe not for your certification course, but afterwards you might want to go there. |

I have been there, but haven't dived there. We went during the off-season and the island was dead, which made it half the price and fantastic. Not the best beaches, but the more secluded ones are actually nicer. I did go snorkeling there and saw about 1,245,982 fish swarming me, and that was in a really busy area, not one of the 'better' areas. |

is it possible to get to palau tioman or sipadan and back in a little over a week? is it worth the trouble? My girlfriend and I were considering either place in the end of July over our week's vacation. I'm advanced and she's open water certified. |

To get to Tioman, you just need to take an hour flight from KL. Berjaya Air does the flight everyday. |

Actually, it is really popular for diving. I was even reading about it in a magazine in the Philippines. Here is a website.
http://www.tioman.com.my/ You can click on scuba diving on that page. |
