| yes. silly is definitely a misunderstood word. to a much greater extent, imo, so is crazy. |

| Yeah, crazy and silly are really misunderstood/mistranslated in Korean. Its annoying b/c they are words we use a lot. I just quit using htem around koreans. |

i always get mad when a korean tries to teach me my own launguage, fair enuff the mother can ask if it means the same thing but if she doesnt know for sure she could shut up before i drop kick her in the head

This is may be a trans atlantic thing..I know for a fact if any of my peer group at home used the word, eyebrows would be raised. Its a word for older women and unusually camp gay men. Basically the type of people who watch the eurovision song contest. |

I think silly might be understood as 'babo', which isn't a nice thing to just walk up to some child and say.
The really boggling aspect of the scenario, in my eyes, is how you reported a solitary incident of a mother (possibly) misunderstanding your language and decided to call this 'the Korean mindset'. What's that all about?
