The wonderful paper that is the Chosun Ilbo has an interview with Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United. He's 26, a millionaire lives with his mother, and single. He's apparently looking for his 'soulmate'. When asked if he has a girlfriend:
Quote: |
― Do you have a girlfriend?
My friends are reluctant to introduce a girl to me since they think Im a big name. |
I know Korea is a very closeted nation, but England isn't. He'd be welcomed with open arms by the gay community there. He could Party with Sir Elton John and find his 'soulmate'.
Here's the link to the whole interview:

Sometimes it's so hard to tell with these mama's boys. They have a way of throwing the gaydar off.
Anyway, if he is (not that there's anything wrong with that), he wouldn't come out because of how Hong Seok-Cheon was ostracized after his confession.
After Hong, the closet door was firmly shut by Korean stars. They are too afraid of being blackballed.
I'm sure you won't see any Korean star outing themselves for a long, long time. |

This stood out to me ...

I just tried fish and chips. I dont know other British food very well. I usually eat Korean dishes my mother makes for me. I dont eat any special power booster food. |
He's been in England nearly 2 years and only tried fish and chips! I know England isn't renowned for its cuisine but still.
Grow some balls ya momma's boy and at least try a Yorkshire Pudd, Pork Pie, Curry or Kebab, if you don't like them you don't have to eat them but at least give 'em a try! |

Why would he need to eat special power food when he spends most of his time at work sitting down? |

Yet another opportunist taking a dig at anything Korean, such a big football fan like yourself should also know that Ronaldo also lives with his Mum and doesnt eat English food either.
Or maybe your not really a fan but just like watching men in shorts?? Get out of the closet yourself!! |

I saw that guy on TV just the other day. He's not totally blackballed. And what about Hairy Sue? Technically he's not gay, but in my mind he's basically gay.
I have a theory that gays are being repressed in Korea by massive conspiracy in the fasion industry. Because in America, where gays are out and about, certain fashion statements are taken as gay. But in Korea, where there are so few open gays, a straight guy can have feathered hair and a pink scarf with matching handbag. Because there's no real chance that he's actually openly gay.
I tell you, it's the work of these powerful hair-feathering conglomerates who control the media. They don't want their products associated with gayness, so they repeatedly show images on TV of men the full-on Ricky Sambora hair getting it on with women! Which any westerner knows has been an impossibility since 1989! (Except for the actual Ricky Sambora who scores at will because apparently his nards were touched by God) |

Always knew that this thing is a complete load, and my opinion that he's a total femme has just been confirmed by his interview with the Chosun Ilbo. |

Calm down. Pak is not a good player at all. More, he seems to be a stereotypical, inward-looking Korean person who obviously does not deserve his heroic status. There are far more football players in the U.S. who deserve his status.

Personality off the field doesn't really have nothing to do with what he does on the field. If he has a heroic status then that is because hes played well, and because he is one of Korea's best players.
I'd say hes a decent player but not great by any means. These other footballers don't deserve his status, if they were good enough, they would have it. They aren't and they don't. If they did, they would be playing in Europe for a top team. If your playing in America, you don't deserve heroic status, anymore than an NFL europe player does. I'd give an exception to the odd superstar who caves for a buck and theres nothing wrong with that. |

My point is that there are guys from the U.S.playing in England and other top leagues in Europe who are far better than Pak. For that matter, nearly all of the members of the 2006 U.S.A. World Cup team are noticeably better than Park. |

Really? On the US team? Now I have to admit I havn't followed soccer obsessively since I left ireland about a year and a half ago but I don't remember any great US players in Europe. Who do you refer to?
As far as I can see, Park has good touch, will hold his wing when he plays there, makes the simple pass and is busy. That all adds up to slightly more than decent. He has a heroic status because hes one of Korea's best players which is deserved. |

Not sure who you were aiming this at, but I'll reply anyway.
If I had known that about Ronaldo I would have had a dig at him, just like I aren't particularly fond of foreigners who spend countless years here yet have barely sampled Korean food. I'm not fond of people who set up in a different nation yet hardly try of the some things the country has to offer. He could have be Korean, Portuguese, Brazilian, Vietnamese or Croatian, it wouldn't have mattered. 26 year old millionaires living at home with Mommy and eating only their mother's home-cooked food are lame no matter what their nationality.
By the way, I quite enjoy soccer though aren't a huge fan and only really get into it every four years when the World Cup's on. I'm not gay, have friends who are and have no trouble with homosexuality. I'm confident in my sexuality so if I was gay, I'd be out as I don't care too much for strangers' opinions of me. I have no real idea here or there whether Park Ji Sung's gay or not and care even less, I only question why a grown man who's financially secure still feels the need to live with Mom and have her cook for him.
