Do these dudes bug the crap out of you? I gather their leader, some woman who wears a doily on her head, is the mother of god. Their founder was the second coming of bejesus but he died again.

I'm pretty sure I know the folks you're talking about.
My girlfriend and I were walking the dog few weekends ago and we got pulled aside THREE times (in about a 10 minute period) by these guys. My girl and I are both christians, and my girlfriend had a pretty strict Christian upbringing, so she just gave 'em the "shame on you for making an idol out of the Virgin Mary" speech. They left us alone.

Yeah my friend who is catholic, when asked by them something like, "do you know the mother of god?" she answered "Mary?" Oh no. No no no. They wouldn't actually tell her, however, who the mother of god was. If you want to know that secret, you need to invite them over to let them put on the full court press. I can imagine it would take a full conversion to evict 3 ajummas from your place.

Oh my god! I got harassed by these peopl on Friday. I must look like an easy target for the evangelicals b/c I am constantly getting stopped. How do you say "Leave me alone" in Korean? I really need to learn that.

The other thign that bugs me is they stop me, even though they speak NO English, but don't bother the Koreans around me. Why?

"Tae-so-yo" (sorry, I don't have Korean on this keyboard) means "No, thanks."

If they insist, and I'm sure they will, you could always go with

"Tak-ja!" (meaning SHUT UP!)

"Na ga" means "go away" in rather abrupt terms (be sure to pronounce "na" as if it rhymed with "saw")

I don't know why they target foreigners the way they do. They are absolutely shameless. I can't wait for my friends at the bus terminal anymore because the God Squad is usually on the prowl. I've been tempted to dash out into traffic because they like to catch me as I'm waiting on a sidewalk at a red light. Grrrrr.

An Ipod and a thousand yard stare normally does the trick. I don't acknowledge people with pamphlets in their hands.

Even with my headphones on, they'll still stop me. These people want white bodies like crazy.

They don't want Jinju's, though. Do the rest of you on this thread and the other Mother of God threads really think you're being preyed upon because, as the ever sympathetic Jinju is implying, you've got the mark of the Sucker about you? Born to have the Koreans take liberties with you? I personally haven't had any run-ins, but that's only because I don't think they can outrun a motorcycle.

I'd say it's just the white face, not the sucker face. You're alone, maybe lonely, you're a floater, you're not really part of the local fabric, whether you're married to a Korean or not, you're seen as vulnerable. Yeah, you can growl a few words of Korean at them, but they know you've got no protection. Liberties will be taken.

I suspect youre fantasizing about yourself. You say to yourself so friendly, so cute, so religious, so upbeat. You think to yourself that you are a loving and inviting person. Fantacy! Not to sound corny but its started to dawn on you. Your friendly banter reminds you of the kind of talks you used to have with your ex K bf (remember the thread?) Question

Outside my subway exit, there are always 3 pairs of them staggered along the street. Te first pair always try to stop me, I stare though them and keep walking. The other ones when they see that seem to be less enthusiastic. I did stop the very first time they were there. Once I figured them out, I knew not to stop again. They don't speak very good english..or i might talk to them. My korean isnt advanced enough to talk to them. At home jehovas when they called around would fascinate me..really wierd.
