My sister (age 28 going on 12) is FLYING into Korea this week. She got a job at a Hogwon, and she did not even check to see if she can get a visa with only 6 months left before her passport expires. I tried to check online, but no information given.
P.S if anyone is in Daegu and wants a crazy gal to hang out with, send me a message, she is fun to be with, but keep her away from TEQUILLA! |

| I don't see why not. I have till August 2008 till mine expires and got my F2-1 visa processed without issue. If she needs to renew the passport, she'll have to go to the embassy and get a form called a DS-82 and bring along 65 dollars to process the passport renewal. |

| I've always heard that the only country that will let you in with less than 6months left is your home country. Where's ttompatz when you need him? |

There is not enough information to give a definitive answer.
Let me confirm:
She is flying into Korea this week,
She will be working for a hakwon,
She does NOT have an E2 visa yet,
She will enter on a 30 day visa waiver?
They will let her enter on a 30 day visa waiver stamp if she has 6 months validity remaining on her passport.
They MAY issue an E2 visa with 6 months validity on her passport but the E2 will expire with the passport and she will have to renew her passport AND pay for the extension.
She may not be allowed into Japan or any other Asian country with less than 6 FULL months remaining on her passport (important if she plans to make a visa run).
My advice is to renew ASAP and pay for expedited service BEFORE she gets to the airport.
The airline may refuse boarding on a short time visa rather than run the risk of her being denied entry and returned at THEIR expense. |

| Honestly, Dave should put him *TP* on the payroll for all the good work he does here. |

Unless things have changed in the last year, or are different for different nationalities, there is no charge for extending the visa to its initial length upon renewing a passport. |
