So, I'm sitting here, grading a "level test" for my 5th graders, at a private school where the parents are chucking 10million won per year down the hole for their kids education, when I realize that 1/3 of these little frakkers can't even seperate 15 scrambled words into Adjective, Noun, and Verb categories.

I'm home-schooling when I have kids.

I felt guilty when I was working in the kiddie hagwon. It was like I was part of a scam.

Ya know, you hit a point where you just have to say, "If the koreans haven't learned by now..."

Because, unlike any other countries, Asia was in the unique position to have great English programs precisely because they had the abortion of Japan's English program right next door. Now, for places like Thailand, Cambodia, etc, the excuse can be made that they're still poor, have low job aspirations, etc. But Korea is flat out suffering from "throw money at it" syndrome.

Now, to be sure, it's working. The next generations will be better at English than the last; but they could have saved *billions* by simply listening to the concerns of waegooks instead of tossing them into the psychic trashbin.

But they have the same thought every time: "You are not Korean, so what the hell do you know?"

Simply? Since when is a total culture transplant simple?

I'm going to skip the part where you say Asia is a country.

Ahh, the limitations of the interwebzbutts...

I didn't at all say asia was a country, I quite literally meant all of Asia since the ESL system in these countries is fairly jacked up in general.

Also, it doesn't take a cultural transplant to look at Japan's ESL system and go..."wow, hey, maybe we shouldn't do that." Hell, considering that the Korean collective mind takes every opportunity to hate Japan, you'd figure that they would have started an awesome esl program and rubbed it in their faces.

i don't know...if the tables were turned, & kids in the west were forced to attend a Korean or Japanese academy several hours a week, does anyone really think they'd be doing any better?

You mean like European kids who learn to speak excellent English (flawless in the case of the Dutch).

So, you're a failure. Thanks for letting us know.

Guess you want your kids to turn out retarded, too.

Don't put down JDog. He's got a good point. Compared to the rest of you losers he doesn't try to convince himself that he is playing an important role. Nor that he (or she) is the 'man' in front of a class full of dull witted korean students.
Perhaps considering the half wits in korean classrooms, it would explain why the rest of you have such a nice time in the classroom.
