Anybody seen anything good lately?
I've been enjoying season three of Japanorama (BBC), the Shield (FOX), and the Trailer Park Boys. Am I missing anything?

As for movies, I just saw a really good, sad, totally realistic samurai picture set just just before the Meiji Restoration--'the Twilight Samurai.' Probably the best Japanese movie I've seen since 'Survive Style 5+.'
Also I got a kick out of "Curse of the Golden Flower." The fight scenes were a little silly, as is usual in Chinese movies, but the costumes and scenes of palace life were outstandingly bizarre. The film should win lots of prizes for choreography and sets, and also for some of the most insane cleavage ever.

Haven't seen any really good American movies for a little while...'the Good German' and 'the Good Shepherd' were well done, but fell short of making me actually giving a crap about any of the characters. Saw "Deja Vu" last night, which taught me that Denzel Washington is very annoying. Ok dialogue in spots, an interesting premise, but basically Hollywood shat the bed once again by using too many cliches--ie the screaming sobbing heroine blurbles away in slo-mo, her shrill wails on 'mute,' while all the cheese twenty violins can muster oozes mercilessly into your ears. Blech.

Recommendations please? Also I enjoy really bad movies too--thanks for turning me on to the "Ghost Rider" and 'Wicker Man."

Televison Shows:

Rescue Me (3 seasons)
Deadwood (2 or 3 seasons)
The Wire (4 Seasons)
The Nine (cancelled after 7 eps)
Smith (cancelled after 7 eps)
Invasion (1 season)
In Case of Emergency (first season currently)
Raines (first season currently)
Criminal Minds (Second season currently)
Carnivale (2 seasons)
Profit (1 season)
Weeds (2 Seasons)
Dexter (1 season)
Ideal (two seasons BBC)
Boston Legal (2 or 3 seasons)
Dead like Me (2 seasons)
Six Feet Under (5 seasons)
My name is Earl (2 seasons)
Heroes (1 season currently)
The Black Donnelys (cancelled after 6 eps)

The cancellation of the listed series makes me sick when I see things like Dancing with the Stars, Survivor and American Idol fluorishing on the major networks. F**king reality garbage.

The only good "reality" show was Drawn Together. It's an animated Big Brother-esque show with cartoon stereotypes occupying a house. Hilarious if you're not too sensitive. Consider checking it out - Season2, Episode 7 has some great Asian driving jokes.

I cannot recommend a british comedy show called 'Peep Show' enough. In it's fourth series now and i'd go so far to say it's funnier than 'The Office'.

Thanks for the great recommendations, folks. I'm happily downloading a whole schwack of no-doubt great stuff right now.
Oh, and 'Hot Fuzz' (a movie) is pretty good too, for fans of British humour. It's the same guys who did 'Sean of the Dead.'

Was very disappointed with Hot Fuzz. Shaun of the Dead was a good movie and Simon Pegg is clearly a smart guy, but HF just didn't do it for me. Get Peep Show downloaded asap though, it's great stuff!

Quite right that "Hot Fuzz" was a few zombies shy of a "Sean of the Dead." Still watchable though. In any case, I got the first three seasons of peepshow chugging slowly down into my HD, and am stoked to know I'll have something funny to watch when I'm all hungover and busted up on Sunday. Cheers--and hey, moonmanhead, what's your avatar? somebody alluded to its being from a tv show--what's the name of it? The dude looks funny as hell and shouts 'DAN!' all the time. Sounds good!

The guy shouting DAN, DAN, DAN, is none other than the legendary Alan Partridge. Try downloading the first series of 'I'm Alan Partridge'. I suppose you could call it very 'English' style humour though. Depends on wheter thats your thing or not. Anyway, have fun!!
