I can't believe people smoke at a public elementary school. Saw one of the teachers smoking in his freaking classroom (after school). One guy was smoking on the playground during lunchtime. Bus driver smoking in the parking lot before he takes off, etc...
WTF is wrong with people here? Doesn't anyone see smoking at a public elementary school is f'ing retarted, wrong, sets a bad example, etc.
Jesus, I really wonder about Korea sometimes. |

.....only sometimes?
Funny thing. The Koreans like to smoke in the gym. They do it all the time at mine........well, in the locker room/sauna anyway.
Cheers.

The principal at my school is hilarious. He speaks some english, but laughs at his own efforts at times. He asked me "you smokey"? So I said yes, but not in class. He then explains that no smokey in school. It seems that all of the buildings are non-smoking which is a great thing.
Then he asks to see my english cigarette... and when I show him he takes one, gives me a Korean one, and sneaks out the ashtray he has hidden in his office
I have since found out that there is a workshop where teachers all slope off to smoke in secret so that is where I go |

I whole-heartedly agree. I also agree that this principle should be carried to its logical conclusion, like it was in the old days.
Teachers should be fired for drinking, at least in the same town where they work. If they absolutely MUST drink, they should go to another town and make darn sure no kid of any kind sees them drinking or showing the effects of having even looked at alcohol.
Teachers suspected of having sex outside of marriage should be pilloried before being fired because they are probably the worst possible threat to children's morality.
Certainly teachers with tatoos should go.
There is no question at all that teachers with hair that doesn't conform to society's standards should have their heads shaved before being stuck in a sack with a few rocks and tossed into the sea.
I'll go even farther. Overweight people should be fired because children seeing them will be encouraged to eat too much and end up with blood pressure problems and heart attacks.
Teachers who have a record of speeding shouldn't be allowed in the classroom either. No need to expose kids to scofflaws. |

| I, for one, always set a stellar example. It's that time of day when the students are all getting herded into the study hall and I'm waiting until they're in there before I go to the teachers' lounge to have a smoke. |

The male teachers' lounge was decalred a no-smoking zone this year.
It always had a no-smoking sign but was disregarded.
First day back, last Friday,I walked outside the school and around the corner with the Chinese teacher.
Today I thought, this is absurd,i can't keep doing this.Problem is,the other smokers are jerks.Still,I need to find someplace to go when I have a long break.
Not finding it too bad though-smoke on the walk to school, smoke on my after lunch walk at lunchtime, smoke on the way home.Half of it is just habit. |

Last year we were asked not to smoke in front of the students. No problem.
We have a smoking room. The whole floor smells like an ashtray.
Yes, I smoke in there, along with more than 50% of the teachers.... |

| If they were to tell me to stop smoking, I'd tell them to bugger off and tell their fathers to stop smoking. |

Maybe you should start a campaign.
First of all, you should go after the parents. If they can smoke, I can smoke. |

| When I went to primary (elementary) school, the principal used to smoke in the hallway as he checked in on the classes. That wasn't so long ago. |

I smoke behind the tool shed. After I'm finished, I go to the teacher's bathroom and either brush my teeth or swish around a little mouthwash. I always keep these items in there.
A grade two teacher smokes out the window in his class. Couldn't believe it. Kids know I smoke and with about 50 to 60% of the men out there smoking, it's no shock for them. |

Yeah, it's less of a shock in the country. |

I couldn't agree with you more, Yata. In fact, OP, all imperfect people should be killed. Think of the children. |

I know you are being sarcastic Ya Ta, but I wondered what you guys really think about teachers being drunk?
For example I live in a fairly small town and a couple of weeks ago I saw my school principal rolling drunk in the main street in full view of many our students and their parents.
If this had happened at home I think there would have been trouble.
