I'm a middle school teacher working in a small town outside of Seoul, but I'm planning a trip to Seoul on the first weekend of March. I'll be going to the excellent Platinum restaurant/microbrewery in Gangnam, Seoul, for some great food and real beer. If any other teachers are interested in coming to meet other teachers and talk about their plans for the coming semester, please let me know and I'll organise a group booking. I can also recommend a comfortable ensuite guesthouse for a reasonable price.

I would be interested in reading the minutes of the meeting and any sort of rough outline of the curriculum for the year ahead.

Really not a wind up.

I would be interested in this, but if it's on Saturday I'll be busy watching Liverpool kick Man U's a$$ and laughing at Evertons lowly league standing... Razz

interesting idea... would it perhaps be good to have people email lessons with instructions and materials, then compile it, and forward the entire list to whomever contributed? maybe that would be better for people's different schedules.

i would be into the email idea.
maybe we can do a get together of down time in an msn chat or something.
that way we can all discuss and it would work somewhat with our schedules and for those who live far away.

Would it be possible to make a yahoo group or something similar for all middle school teachers? We could post our lesson plans, share tips, strategies, etc.

Guys,

I would recommend getting an esnips account like I did. They offer 5 GB, more than enough. Post your plans in one central place.

For an example, on my page is a link to a woman who has kindly posted up her own lesson plans, for all the elementary units. You could do the same for middle school lessons. It is on the bottom left of my site. Hit SMOE lessons

Well, there doesn't seem to be much interest in a meeting. Anyway, I'll be there with my girlfriend as March 3rd is my birthday so if anyone decides to go, send me a pm and I'll give you my cell phone number so we can meet up.

its not that there isnt an interest but i think its more that people plan a lot of things to do on the weekend since we have to be at school during the week.
has anyone set up anything or is following up on this?

Yeah, I guess so, but I think one weekend could be useful, not only for lesson planning but also for making contacts. By the way, I think that the book suggested by snehulak on another thread, is pretty good (see http://www.finchpark.com/books/tmms/index.htm ). It's not perfect - explaining the difference between a pop song and a ballad to 1st graders in the first week or two would not be easy - but it's very useful and will be more useful after a few alterations.
