| Hi folks. I've been offered a job that would have me leaving much sooner than I thought so I wouldn't have as much time to get in to get some shots like I had planned. How risky would it be to simply wait until I got there before getting the cdc's recommended shots? |

No worry mate.
You can get them when you get here.
Hep A
Hep B
Tetnus booster
Japanese Encephalitis
would be well advised in the not too distant future.

| I agree, they aren't necessary, but it's nice if you can get them. I got the first hep shot before I left and never bothered with the other ones. The only reason I got it is because I had to have a brief physical and my doctor looked up the recommendations on the CDC site. |

| Maybe the shots are for our protection. |

| Hep B is worth getting because it can be transmitted sexually and through blood, and is therefore a big danger in many countries, including Korea. The problem is that it takes at least three shots, taken over six months, but there's no reason why you can't finish the course in Korea. |

I'd get 'em when you can. A low probability is still a probablility. There is good reason why scientists put so much effort into developing vaccines, and the reasons for the travel recommendations are equally as good. It'd be a wise move to get 'em.
I sat down with a nurse the other day, looked at a map and my records, and I got my tetnis, typhoid and hep B taken care of. There were one or two I turned down, after talking it through with her. |

| If you don't have the time but still want to get them, there's no reason you couldn't get them here, probably for much cheaper. |

This has changed within the last 12 months (at least in the UK)
I get HepB... 3 shots over 4 weeks.... then a booster 12 months later. |

Yeah, that's offered when time is short, but there's a bit less chance of success. |

TWINREX also has a combo Hep A/B shot that is taken in 2 doses. It is just as effective as the separate shot series but more expensive. |

Both kinds of Hep B are available for free with the NHS in the UK, so that's your best bet if you live in the UK. |

Nope, it is 3 doses
It is more expensive in Korea than it is in North America as well.
Good ones to have:
Hep A
Hep B
Tetnus booster
TB booster
Typhoid fever
Somewhat important if you are living in a rural area.
Japanese Encephalitis |
