I've been ill lately, and having unpleasant dreams about TV shows I saw when I was a kid. Most recently, I was dreaming of Caspar the Friendly Ghost. (I think it was because I saw the name here on Dave's.) And spiders. Yuck! Not sure what's grosser, dead marshmallow-looking baby ghosts or big ass tarantulas.
Anyway, today I read on Dave's something about Buzz Aldrin seeing aliens when he was on his moon-trip. Still sick, and more than a little fevered, the reference sent me off a-reminiscing.
Many years ago, I saw an episode of the Brady Bunch in which some astronaut (Armstrong? Aldrin? Grissholm or Jissolm or whatever his name was?) visited the Bradys and told them about funny lights he had seen when he was in space. I'm really not sure how much of this memory is based on an actual Brady Bunch episode; did anybody else see that one, or is it a hybrid memory of various other god-awful 70'sTV shows all mixed up together with fever dreams and stuff?
Which brings me to my second, equally irrelevant point: what do YOU dream about when you are sick? |

Aliens. From the movie Aliens. I feel them lurking around me and it's not pleasant. |

Dreaming when you're sick... I tend not to dream as much when I'm sick as when I'm well. Or maybe I do, but I just don't remember them. However, some of the worst nightmares I've had are when I'm sick, and particularly feverish. They're just way way bad. It's never creepy-crawly things or monsters. Always something just on the other side of plausible, though out-of-hand wrong and all farked-up. It'll be some unnerving, harrowing, mortifying threat or hellish situation I'm placed in.
There's also an oppressive, helpless quality to "sick dreams", where my mind will fixate on some dreadful thought or circumstance, and it will replay that from every possible angle. I can even wake up, come to my senses, drink some juice, take more medicine, go back to sleep... and sonofabitch, I'm right back where I left off. You know it can't be real, you know you're doing it, but you just can't make it stop. You can't force yourself awake and you can't shut off the dream. And the sleep is wretched. Not restful in the slightest. |

A dream about The Brady Bunch would be a nightmare instead of a dream. That has to be one of the worst TV shows ever created! In fact, most TV shows are stupid drivel. By the way, who likes that Levi's commercial with the guy and girl putting their feet on each other??? Pretty freaking stupid, if you ask me. Unless of course, the guy has nice feet. Big, ugly feet suck! |

I get the same thing sometimes where my blankets turn into stone and I see myself encased in them high up on some building in an empty city of stone. When this happens every time I move the blankets I remember that they're not made of stone, but as soon as they stop moving they turn back again. |

I had a dream last night that I was part of a scientific experiment to determine who mosquitos bite more: students who study or students who don't study. Some scientists released a swarm of mosquitos into my hagwon and some of the students were instructed to study, others were instructed not to study. I had to stay in the school and "observe." That was a sucky dream. |
