Just wanted to ask about buying eyewear/contact lenses in Korea.
Is a western prescription any good out there, or should I simply bring plenty of lenses/spare pairs of glasses with me? |

There's an optometrist every 50 metres or so on many streets. I think it's the law or something. Seriously they are everywhere. Just bring your prescription, and unless you've got something really dodgy/unusual, you'll have no problems. Don't know where you're from, but it's probably much cheaper here as well.
(edit: actually I've just noticed that you're from England, guess I should have read your location before replying, sorry about that).

^Sorry, UK.
I'm currently paying about 55.00 (100,000+ KW) for 60 pairs of daily disposables. Anyone know how much they generally are? |

One 30 pack of daily disposables in Korea costs about 35,000 won. |

I went to an optical shop in a HomePlus store today. They were very friendly, understood me well enough, used good hi tech machines, and service was speedy (took 5 minutes) with no appointment necessary. They offered 6 pairs of regular soft lenses to last 2 months per pair (1 year supply) for 35,000 Won and offered a new type of high quality lenses (Optix 2 by CibaVision) where you get 3 pairs to last 1 month per pair (3 month supply) for 30,000 Won. I opted for the 3 pair of high quality Optix 2 lenses. I put the lenses in my eyes a few hours ago and all is perfectly well with them. One huge caveat though.
I only received 3 single lenses instead of 3 pairs in the box!!!
I am going back in attempt to get what I had paid for, but was not given a reciept and the same person may not be there when I go back tomarrow after work and a different person will not know if I am try to rip them off when in fact, I was ripped off. I believe it was an honest mistake on the optometrists part as she was a bit overly interested in learning more about me which happens to me everyday here due to being in a smaller city where they don't see many foreigners around. I noticed I get so many mistakes in various services I request here, becuase the service providers are too focused on studying the waygook standing in front of them which is a huge distraction preventing them from doing the good job they intended to do. I am in a very awkward position, but it does not seem a bit hostile though. |
